Datapoint Principense/Independent pronominal possessors

The origin of the possessive word ki is not clear to me. Its behaviour is that of a noun, because it is modified by an adnominal possessive. By contrast, the homonymous instrumental/comitative preposition ki (and its allomorph ku) combines with independent personal pronouns (cf. ku ami 'with me').
