Given the small area (227 km²) on which the variety is spoken and the concentration of the majority of its speakers in the city of Mindelo, there is no clear geographical variation within the variety. The speech of the speakers from the fishing villages and semi-rural communities outside the city is best analyzed in terms of social rather than geographical variation.
