There are significant differences in the use of the language in relation to radio and TV news.
The São Vicente variety of the Cape Verdean Creole is generally more present on the radio (there is a local radiostation on the island) than on TV, which is broadcasted from the capital in Praia, Santiago.
There is a radio news programme in Cape Verdean Creole of São Vicente and there are also other radio programmes, especially entertaintment ones, where the language is spoken. However, it is absent from the national TV news. It should be noticed that TV news are transmitted exclusivelly in Portuguese by the Cape Verdean national broadcasting company (TCV). The speakers also have access to two Portuguese private channels (broadcasted from Portugal) and one Portuguese international channel (RDP).
