For decades, a growing number of children have been learning Nigerian Pidgin as their first or one of their first languages. Initially, this phenomenon was limited to a few million children in urban centers in the greater Niger Delta area (from just west of Benin City to just east of Port Harcourt) but at present there are millions more children all over the country who are learning Nigerian Pidgin as their first or one of their first languages .
