nádi
nadi
There’s a place called Nadi.
Comment:
The ambitransitive verb nadí 'call/called' when used with its reflexive meaning induces the only case of split ergativity in Juba Arabic. In fact, if a passive habitual phrase marked by bi presents an ergative construction in which the patient occupies a direct object position, in the case of nadí a ge marking is preferred, which induces an accusative construction presenting the patient in the subject position.
