Long subject and object forms are used when the verb has a consonant in initial or final position. Short subject and object forms are used when the verb has a vowel in initial or final position. In the latter case, the dependent pronoun leans on the preceding accentogene unit (Jan [wèm]: enclitic) or the following accentogene unit ([machte] liv la: proclitic).
