Datapoint Cape Verdean Creole of Santiago/Domains of use: literature

There is still only one novel written in Capverdian Creole (Oju d'agu, by Manuel Veiga, published in 1987 in the Santiago variety). Some authors use Santiago Creole in story-writing (Tomé Varela da Silva, Danny Spínola, etc.). There has been an uninterrupted tradition of poetry-writing in Creole since the end of the 19th century.
