Datapoint Sri Lankan Malay/Marking of patient noun phrases

The reality is fairly variable. Definite NPs will be accusative-marked; however, indefinite NPs are much less likely to be (only) partially consistent with the Tamil definiteness requirement. There is no animacy requirement for accusative marking, contra Sinhala. Unique objects, by definition definite, as in Example 65, are not accusative-marked.
