Datapoint Juba Arabic/ɛ - lower mid front unrounded vowel
This appears as an allophone of /e/ in Bari borrowings. It can also be found in Arabic words which underwent the effect of vowel harmony induced by substratum interference (Miller 1989: 4). Finally it can also be due to vowel assimilation processes.
