Datapoint Mauritian Creole/Co-occurrence of demonstrative and definite article

If sa is regarded as the demonstrative and la as the definite article, then the two may cooccur (Value 1). But while there is, and has long been, a tendency for -la to become the definite article in opposition to sa ... la as a demonstrative, one still encounters examples of postposed -la alone where definite and demonstrative interpretations of its role are equally possible (zom la 'the man' or 'this/that man'). It would therefore also be possible to select Value 3 here.
