In the traditional villages, trials (kuutu) are obligatorily carried out in Nengee.
Nengee does not figure in court proceedings in French Guiana and Suriname. In Suriname, Sranan may be used for witness statements. In French Guiana, statements may be given in Nengee and are then translated by (non-professional) translators.
