While there is limited regional variation in the morphosyntax of basilectal varieties of Nigerian Pidgin due to influence from local languages, and limited social variation in the morphosyntax of acrolectal varieties of Nigerian Pidgin due to influence from English, morphosyntactic variation rarely impedes mutual intelligibility among mesolectal speakers of the language. Speakers of Nigerian Pidgin from more privileged class backgrounds usually have greater opportunities for learning English, and occasionally use English-influenced morphosyntax in their Nigerian Pidgin discourse.
