Datapoint Gullah/Geographic variation: morphosyntax
Montgomery (1994) has done important spadework in tracing morphosyntactic variation by area/island based on Lorenzo Dow Turner’s early records from 1933. Native speakers have reported that they can tell from the ‘accent’ which island a given speaker is from, but further investigations on the question of areal variation in morphosyntax are lacking.
