Datapoint Early Sranan/Domains of use: newspaper editorials
Newspapers appeared in Suriname only from the late 18th century onwards, see for example 'Algemeene Nieuwstijdingen' (1795-1805) and 'de Surinaamsche Courant' (from 1804 onwards). They were mainly in Dutch, although they appeared in both Dutch and English during the English period (1804-1816).
