This sentence is taken from a narrative told by Pedru Pɛ͂y. With non-stative verbs, the present-tense habitual reading is expressed with the base form of the verb preceded by the particle , as in the above example tə li͂pa. As shown in Example 39, certain stative verbs, such as sab 'know', do not appear with in the affirmative.
