110 Savvy

This feature is described more fully in chapter 110.

Summary

Many contact languages have words like save , savvy or sabi with the meaning ‘know’ (or similar), deriving ultimately from forms of Portuguese saber or from the etymologically closely related words saber and savoir in Spanish and French. This feature looks at whether or not savvy is attested in the APiCS languages. Note that the feature values only record the lexical meaning ‘know’, not grammaticalized modal, copular or other meanings.
