Datapoint Santome/Tightness of the link between the progressive marker and the verb

Ska is arguably the contracted form of sa ka 'to be + ASPECT'. In the latter construction, a few adverbs, such as kwaji 'almost, about to' may intervene between sa and ka. The syntactic relation between sa and ka is similar to that between past progressive/habitual tava + ka 'TENSE+ASPECT'.
