Datapoint Gullah/ɔ - lower mid back rounded vowel

Turner ([1949] 2002: 18) writes that "[ɔ] is seldom heard in Gullah". This is correct if we mean by [ɔ] the aw sound in RP law. However, this vowel clearly exists as the lax (lower), back, round, mid vowel known from West African languages (see Jones-Jackson 1978: 103).
